In his con­sid­er­a­tion of macOS 26 and its Liquid Glass, Jason Snell writes:

I also have to point out the hypocrisy of Apple claiming that it’s building better frames for its users’ con­tent. That’s not what’s hap­pening here: Apple is using our con­tent as dec­o­ra­tion for its inter­faces, using blurred and dis­torted ver­sions of our images and words to show off those glass inter­face elements. [ … ]

That’s a canny observation. Liquid Glass is some­thing “only Apple could achieve”, the com­pany keeps reminding us, and it’s interesting — exhausting — to imagine the effect as a recur­ring boast. Click: ONLY APPLE COULD ACHIEVE THIS! Scroll: ONLY APPLE!! Drag: A P P L E

I haven’t tried macOS 26, and won’t for some time — I’m still hap­pily on Sonoma over here!
