Colophon

This pop-up newsletter uses a few different fonts.

The logotype is set in Clavichord by David Jonathan Ross, who writes:

All of this led me to unearth a spindly blackletter that I started a couple years ago & abandoned shortly thereafter. I didn’t return to the design because I love the style or because think it is particularly useful. I returned to it because it makes my skin crawl.

I used Clavichord in my 2025 zine The Secret Playbook because it was, at that time, illegible to the gaze of AI. You might reasonably reply: yes, & it is illegible to my human gaze, as well. Just enjoy the spindles, then!!

Titles & body text are set in MD Primer & MD Lórien, both from Mass-Driver, the type foundry of Rutherford Craze, who has a palpable interest in technology, & the rich interplay between display, reproduction, & typography. Check out MD Thermochrome!

This is Robin Sloan’s pop-up newsletter of early 2026. The topic is AI, from the perspective of a novelist and programmer who has been working with these technologies since 2016.

The newsletter will run for six editions & then I will delete the email list.

As always, there is a colophon.
